The challenge: Completed in 2017, Block 8 is the latest high rise apartment building within the Frasers Central Park precinct Chippendale – former Carlton United Brewery. This 13 storey development consists of 178 apartments which capitalise on expansive views. Retail and residential common areas at ground floor continue the vision for an active urban precinct. The building also includes three levels of basement carparking and ancillary residential storage.
Block 11 is a mixed residential and commercial building. This 13 storey development will comprise 296 apartments, two levels of basement carpark, ground floor commercial and retail areas, gym / sauna and a childcare centre. Block 11 is on track for completion in 2018.
Our solution: Exova Defire provided a range of performance solutions for Block 8 including assessment of the three storey main entry void, evacuation travel distances and the stair pressurisation system. We worked closely with the architect, engineering consultants and Fire and Rescue NSW to limit the visual and spatial impact of fire safety measures in this premium building, while achieving a high level of fire safety performance.
